Throughout history, there was a form of literature used by many people, especially play writers and intelligent individuals, which condensed stories into much shorter forms of the lengthy, detailed stories. This shorter form of literature that helped shorten stories was known as poetry. There are many different definitions of poetry, but many people, in present-day, use a definition of: a condensed piece of literature that can be spoken and read and can express an individual’s, or maybe even group’s, emotions that quickly gets to the point and uses many of the literary elements, like: metaphors, onomatopoeias, similes, alliteration, and much more and sometimes uses a rhyming scheme, which is not as necessary as the other, recommended literary elements. However, as history went by and man reforms occurred, the definition of poetry changed for many groups and had minor tweaks, and poetry was used by many other groups of people, especially musicians. After being reformed and changed to be used for many other uses, poetry ended up being used by musicians in order to create songs with a whole new dimension to poetry. After poetry and its techniques were used more and more for songs, there came to be many different types of songs, like country and rock. Many other groups of songs have branched off from poetry, and many bands were created through these groups. One band that was created was the Black Eyed Peas, who are mainly a hip-hop band, which is one of the most famous bands in the world; they bring joy and energy to all of the crowded stadiums, and one of their most famous songs, which was their biggest selling song in the United States, is “I Got a Feeling.”

This is my opening paragraph for my song project, but I do not know whether I am going to add or take away some parts of it.

My opening paragraph is very short, so I'll add the conclusion too. The song “Friends and Lovers” by the band Madina lake is an inspirational song about remembering the past and how everyone has to keep pushing through all the hard things in life. Madina Lake’s “friends and Lovers” should belong to the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry because its meaning is extremely deep and well thought out, and because the overall use of poetry elements is overwhelming.
Conclusion
Overall, the meaning and theme of this song should easily make the poem into the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry collection because it is so profound and the use of poetic elements just adds to its strength. Madina Lake shows that they put time and effort into the lyrics and if “Friends and Lovers” does not make it into the collection, then no other song is worthy.

The song that I chose was The Call, by Regina Spektor. The writer of the song, Regina Spektor, was Russian born. She grew up in a very musically oriented family, and never really thought about writing music. Regina has written so many good songs that the producers of Narnia: Prince Caspian had decided to use one of her songs. The Call was put into the movie, making her music more famous as well as herself. The Call was most likely written for the movie, and is supposed to go along with the plot, but there has been some speculation over that, bringing us to think the song has different meanings. Even though it is not very long, I think that The Call is very poetic because it has good imagery and it has a strong message.

“Folsom Prison Blues” is an important song in the history of country singer Johnny Cash, and is significantly metaphorical in its lyrics. It captures the feelings of desire, boredom, and regret in a ballad of a prisoner at Folsom Prison. The tone of blues combined with its tempo and railroad rhythm makes it pleasing to listen to, but more importantly the significance is found within the text. The solemn song is indeed a poem. This is the kind of poetry that not only puts one person in the shoes of another, but provides a deeper message from the author himself. The lyrics to the song “Folsom Prison Blues” should definitely be included in the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry.

The end by the doors is a great song. i love it so much... haha just kidding

Poetry has been around since the beginning of human beings being able to speak to one and other. It is a timeless art form that can strike a chord in anyone’s heart. Over the years people have developed a book called The Anthology of Contemporary Poetry. I have never had such the experience of perusing this literature but if there should be song to put in the anthology it would definitely be “The End” by The Doors. This is because of its deep topic and Jim Morrison’s ability to take us on a journey through the inevitable “end” that I feel he has captured so well in this piece.

Wonderwall
Wonderwall the song was originally performed by Oasis in 1995. It was written by one of the band members named, Noel Gallagher. Today this much controversy to why the song was written, and what it was written about. Now, today, there are two main versions the original one performed by Oasis and the one performed by Ryan Adams. The version performed by Ryan Adams is much slower and it enables the reader to absorb the depth of the song and its lyrics. The majority of people would listen to this song and think of it as a song that someone wrote to the person that they love or are trying to get. This song has many poetic elements that make it support the idea that it is a true poem, not just a song.

All music is poetry. The lyrics are meant to make one feel emotions, understand how another feels, or for one to get a message through to people. It is something many people can relate to, and the most powerful of songs can even force others to realize something about themselves or even society around them. Jack Johnson is very talented at writing music that has not only a literal meaning, but also a very deep internal meaning that can only truly be understood through a lot of thought. In his song “Inaudible Melodies”, he portrays a literal image of something he deeply cares about, and within the words there is a message about his thoughts on people today. It is a true poem, with beautiful lyrics and a perfect melody to match the overall mood of the song. This song deserves to be in the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry for a myriad of reasons, however what stands out about this song is the wake-up call it gives to Jack Johnson’s audience.

How far have we come? It’s a question that can relate to anything. The song “How far we’ve come” by matchbox twenty is telling the reality of most people’s lives. Even though this song does not have a rhyme scheme this song can be classified as a poem. It tells not a story, exactly but tells how sad the world can be at times and that normal people can’t change it an example war. This song “how far we’ve come” is a type of poetry and can be put into the “Anthology of contemporary poetry”.

Trevor Hall writes in almost a very religious way mostly speaking of peace. He decided to write this song with Matisyahu not only because they where on tour together but because Matisyahu is a Hasidic Jew while Trevor Hall is a Christian. With this combination this made for a great song for talking about peace. Combining the two religions and both of which the artist tend to sing about the same things.
Trevor Hall and Matisyahu are both mostly solo artist. Trevor Hall mixes his own form of rock, acoustic, and reggae while Matisyahu is reggae, rock, and hip hop. Some may know Trevor Hall through the Shrek the Third soundtrack singing his song “Other Ways”. He is still young and isn’t the most well known artist but signed with Vanguard Records. Trevor Has released a number of albums called “Lace up your shoes”, “Trevor Hall live”, “The Rascals Have Returned”, “The Elephants door”, “Alive and on the Road with Chris Steele”, “This is Blue”, and “Trevor Hall”. His influences are artist like Bob Marley, and Ziggy Marley. Matisyahu’s band name is “Matisyahu” and he is on vocals Aaron Dugan on guitar and Rob Marscher on keyboard. Matisyahu has many albums constisting of studio albums; remix albums, live albums, extended plays, and singles. He also did a lot of covers for artists like Michael Jackson and The police.

The song “Leave out All the Rest,” by Linkin Park belongs in the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry because of all the poetic devices used in the song. There are many different poetic devices used in this song such as Repetition for effect and metaphors and similes. People don’t really know how to decide whether a song belongs in the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry, but it all depends on how they interpret the song. The song “Leave out All the Rest,” definitely belongs in the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry because of how the song was written.

my first paragraph:
Strawberry Fields Forever is a unique piece of literature that contains poetic elements such as metaphors, symbols, tone, and imagery. It is a ballad poem because the author is displaying part of his life story and because of the constant use of “I”. This poem belongs in the Anthology of Contemporary Poetry because there is something about this poem that sets it apart from other ballad poems. Strawberry Fields Forever has a deeper meaning but has many different interpretations because in order to fully understand what the song is actually saying, some research must be done on the musical genius who wrote this song, John Lennon.

Poetry has been a key part of writing since the beginning of literature. From the complex to simple meanings or the way it touches our own hearts and souls, poetry brings us to a more complex detailing of literature. However despite the beauty of poetry, it has rarely been put into the hands of the general population willingly. That was until the idea of putting poetry to song, thus creating the music of today. Despite all the music we are exposed to, classic rock music seams to stick with us as the most enduring, bringing us legends like Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead and the Beatles. “Imagine” by John Lennon is a poem because of its rhyming sequence, deep meaning, and it also reveals his emotions that he was feeling when he wrote the song.
This is my opening paragraph
