People do Awful Things
Although we don’t like to focus on, humans are capable of extreme evil. Take the Holocaust, for example. How is it that so many people were involved in so atrocious a moment in history? Take a moment to explore how these things are possible. [Simply saying, “Well, there were a lot of sick-minded people in Germany at that time” is not a strong answer. The people in Germany in the 1940’s are of the same species we are. If we’re not capable of the evil they did, why were they? Or are we?]

I think that everyone is capable of good and evil. One person cannot just be branded as 'good' or 'evil'. Everyone has the capability to be one or both. Everyone is capable of this because evil is something that everyone can be if they want to be. But that is the same thing with being kind as well. People have to choose to be kind. Just because everyone is capable of doing terrible things it doesn't mean they will. Most people get an understanding of what is right and wrong and so they don't do terrible things.
There were some moments where our country was probably embarassed of what happened in the past. They might've felt ashamed because of the reputation of some evil things comming from our country. Things like bad decisions in wars, slavery long ago, and unfair ruling all contribute to things our countrys not proud of. When fighting in wars and things of that sort, people tend to be evil because they think its good for our country. Doing a good job fighting and being evil are two different types of things. Getting carried away into war can also lead to being evil. yet Slavery and other things can be controlled. They have the choice to be nice or evil. At the time, it seems like it prabably couldn't have been stopped because everyone was doing it and into the same thing. Today, people are doing what they can to make the world more peaceful and less evil. It's much different then it was before.
People are able to do basically anything they want these days, and sometimes we take it for granted and do things that we feel benefit ourselves and maybe not others. While some people actually are sick enough to do something even remotely close to what Hitler did, some other people really don't know any better. We learn what is right and what is wrong by ourselves; parents and teachers try to teach us, but we establish the barrier between right and wrong through our own experiences. Hitler probably had terrible experiences with certain people that caused him to believe what he was doing was right; and he was so certain that he was right that he managed to convince most of a very big country and become a national leader, where people realized too late how wrong his intentions really were. Before the horror of the Holocaust began and by the time it was in full throttle, everyone was too afraid to try and take a stand against Hitler because they were scared of getting killed or of people turning against them. So, although what Hitler did was terrible, people's fear of turning against so many others was just as bad because it allowed the Holocaust to have full effect.
Though we are all human we were not all taught the same things. Though we are of the same spaicies we are both from two different worlds. The Germans we taught to believe that Jews were horrid people. We were brought up believing that they are just like us. The feeling was mutual between Hitler and the other citizens of Germany. It was not an idea that Hitler just thought of out of the blue, he had an idea, so great it could take Germany out of their depression. He was their so called "savior" and Germany was desperate for one.
However does that mean that all men are capable of this horrid act? Yes, wee all are but Germany was week thinking of anyway to rise back on top, they thought that drastic times call for drastic measures, however I think they took it to far. If we were in this situation would we do the same thing? Well it all depends on if Hitler did take over Germany and the Holocaust occured if so probably not. I believe this because we learn from not only our mistakes but from the mistakes of others. We saw what happens to people when they are desperate and now we know not to do if that time ever comes in American history, becuse of the holocaust we are ready for the siuations that are thrown at us.
The people of Germany were blinded by what Hitler had been telling them what was going on. People these days can’t always be trusted, and he was. Some people are just born evil; others get it thrust upon them. Also, this might not have been looked down upon. Some people think that they are doing something right, when the other this it is totally absurd. For example, the attack on 9/11, the people participating in the bombing probably did not think anything was wrong with what they were doing. In fact, they probably thought they were doing something great for their country. Hitler had blatantly washed the brains of the people around and under him. Now, the questions really needed to be asked is that if Hitler actually felt these beliefs for his own, or he was being pushed into thinking these horrible and terrifying things? So, people are capable of doing very evil and sinister things. But, the question is will we ever make the mistakes they did, or repeat the terror they have done. It is often said that history repeats itself
All people are capable of doing terrible actions that are despicable, though the choice of whether or not to allow these horrible actions to take place rests entirely in the decisions that we encounter, and the ways that we react to them. For example, many people had supported Hitler and were ready to serve him to create a more powerful Germanic nation of prosperity. Many of these supporters had not intended for the Jewish population to suffer and be murdered under his rule. The Holocaust had influenced many civilians of how this event could have happened and how? Before the Holocaust, Jewish people had never actually believed that their ethnic group was being endangered by the Nazis at the time. Even if several Jewish citizens had thought that this could be a possibility, they had chosen not to believe this warning since they thought it was too outrageous to actually be true. The people who supported Hitler had thought that the dictator would unite Europe ethnically and economically and create a more ideal world, rather than a war-faring nation. Hitler was capable of this iniquity by influencing thousands of people with his speech that had only spoke about the greatness and wealth that would come to Germany if he is chosen. He was able to gain enough support and power to become dictator and eventually put forth his evil plans creating the Holocaust. He had murdered millions of Jews because he had purposely blamed them for ruining Europe in all aspects. In conclusion the decisions that we make for the world might have a large impact if the people we choose or support are capable of the cruelty and evil as the sick-minded people in Germany during the 1940’s were.
I believe that people can be capable of evil. People in the Holocaust were capable of extreme evil for many reasons. Hitler was a very talented public speaker so people were persuaded by what he said. Since people believed Hitler, they believed that what happened during the Holocaust was the right thing. Seeing this can show you that all people are capable of evil.
The Holocaust was a tragic moment for everyone. So many people were involved in this occurrence because they didn't know that what they were doing was wrong. Even if people did know that the actions they were doing were wrong, they were too scared to speak up and say their opinion to Hitler. People also may have done this because they believed it would benefit their country or themselves and they were threatened if they didn't do as they were told. I do believe that we are capable of any evil because if we put out mind to it, we can do anything, good or bad.
When it comes down to it, everyone is capable of good and evil. Obviously, not everyone can express this evil or good as easily as others, and it is harder for some to take control of it. For example, the reason that the Germans expressed so much evil was because they had several factors working in their favor to help them do so. First of all, Germany was very prepared for what they were going to do to the Jewish people. They had been plotting for a long period of time. Also, the Nazis were very intimidating. At first, they were seen to be impossible to stop.
Along with these advantages, Germans also had Hitler. Hitler was very powerful, and eventually, all the Germans believed what he was saying was correct, which it was not. Everyone listened and believed him, and he was a very convincing speaker. He convinced the Germans that they weren't doing wrong when they started doing terrible things to the Jews. In this case, the Germans had several factors that helped them reach this level of cruelty, but thankfully most people are not as easily convinced as the Germans in 1940 were.
When something brand new comes out, maybe like a vaccine or a medicine, people often wait to see if other people recommend it. I think this could be applied to the holocaust. Its easier to go along with if more and more people belief what there doing is right. Therefore, if more people agree with it the less you will get criticized for it. Its almost like peer pressure, if everyone else believes in exterminating an ethnicity group, than it my feel awkward being left out or surrounded by those people that do truly believe in it. Moreover, people that did not come in contact with this ethnicity group might be more willing to exterminate them because they don't know what there like and all the information they get about them is going to be negative.
All humans are capapble of such horrible things because we are all humans like Hitler just not everyone thinks like him. The nazisa did not believer what they where doing was wrong they thought of it as doing goo for there country. Kind of like the terrorist when they attacked the world trade centers. These terrible people where just doing as they where told not what they thought was wrong. I feel like the nazis feared Hitler in a way of if they did something wrong they feel as if they would be punished like the Jews.

The people in Germany in the 1940's were suffering. They had no one to get leadership or hope from, it was basicly a small depression. When Hitler came, he promised great things, more land, power ect.. Oblivious to what will happen in the future, the people in Germany too Hitler to be their leader. So many people went along with the Holocaust and killing Jews was because they already didn't like them, and most of the lower ranked Nazi's were brainwashed into thinking that Jews were bad and should be exterminated from the face of the Earth! Although the lower Nazi's were brainwashed, someone had to agree with Hitler. Obviously, a couple other people thought the same about Jews and wanted them gone,so they started telling people about their plan and made them agree.
The Holocaust went on for so long with out the US stopping it, or even Germanies own people was because Hitler and the higher leaders wanted to "sugarcoat" what was really going on. They had films made, and pictures taken of the people in the Holocaust look happy and well taken care of.
