I think that everyone hungers for something. When you're younger you are hungry for more toys or more popularity, things that you really don't need to live, but at the time, they seem to be the most important thing. At the moment, my hunger is split into two groups that are complete oppisite of each other. On one side, I am hungry for the future to come so I can go to college and pick a major and then get out of school and get a job that I love to do. On the other side, however, I am hungry to stay a kid and want time to stop so I can have a little more fun being a kid and not worrying. I guess being hungry for both of these things should cancel each other out and I should be happy with the age and responsibility I have, but when you are hungry, you can't stop thinking about it.
I think that the thing that I am most hungry for, however, is to see how I turn out.
I hunger for a lot of things. Most of the time I am hungry for food like cereal, cookies, and french fries. There are other things i hungry for though that dont relate to food or eating. Metaphorically i hunger to be a good player at soccer. When I say I "hunger", I really just mean "want". I really want to be good at my sports and maybe get noticed by somebody. Another thing that i most hunger for or really want is good relationships with my friends and family. It's not that i don't have good relationships with the people around me, but i just hunger for good, long relationships, doesnt everyone?
Being hungry for something is a good thing, it shows that you are motivated and have goals and ambitions. But make sure you are not hungry for the wrong reasons.
In my life, I have hungered for many different things besides food. I often hunger for a normal family because my parents are divorced. Evn though that will never happen. I also hunger for more friends, and people to hang out with. I haven't hung out with someone in a while, so I'm hungry for that. I also have an extreme hunger to learn more songs on the guitar. I recently picked it up and I love it. I can already play one song, but I'm hungry like the wolf for more. I also hunger to become better at Lacrosse and Football. I need to fing some time to preactice so I can feed the hunger. I also am starving for
God. I have become very close to him, and seek to become even closer. I hunger for a lot of things, so I can feed and some I can't.
Without question, reaching personhood is Sara's main priority throughout her life in the book "Bread Givers". From the beginning, she likes to earn things for herself and not to have another person support her. An example is when she sells herring on the street as a 10 year old, screaming her heart out and working so hard that she earns 25 cents; this is a huge accomplishment for her, and she finds a lot of joy in making her own money. This drive for her to earn things for herself keeps her going throughout the story, and there are various times where Sara talks about how much she wants to "become a person" in America, such as on page 66. However, in order to become a person, Sara must face other issues; the other themes posted on the blog question. Sara faces the hardships of each theme, and each experience helps carry her on her journey to become a person. Each theme is important in the novel, however reaching personhood is Sara's main goal through her entire life.
Hunger is something you can measure, whether it be literally or metaphorically, and both have completely different meanings. A hunger for food simply means you haven't eaten in a while, but to hunger something metaphorically means you crave and strive for something greater than food. Often i do not hunger anything, but when i'm playing lacrosse, or taking a test i hunger to do well. I don't like losing and not fulfilling my hunger, but unfortunetly things out of your control just happen.
Metaphorically, hunger means to want. I think it is safe to say that everyone is hungry for something, everyone wants something. However, everyone is hungry for something different than another person because everyone views life differently and look to get something different out of life than others. I think what you are hungry for changes as you go through life. At least in my personal experience I think I'll want something and that same day I'll change view. Most of the time I am hungry to just be successful and to accomplish whatever goal I have at the time. Although that is very vague, no matter what my goal is, if I am hungry to feel a sense of accomplishment and to know that I put a lot of effort into reaching my goal.
I feel that everyone is hungry for one or more things in thier life, whether you pay attention to it or not the hunger is always there. there are also different forms, some people are starving and others just want a nibble. my hunger is that similar to shadiye(sorry not sure of the spelling) i am hungry to go to a medical school and then later graduate to be an orthopedic surgeon. it is a very tough goal but i am up for the challenge and i have been for a while.
I think that everyone hungers for something different depending on where they are in their life. As a kid you can be hungry for a new toy. As an adult you can be hungry for money. Depending on your perspective of life and what your position in life is can change what you are hungry for. And for example if you are financially deprived it can change for you being emotionally and theoretically hungry to being literally physically hungry. Depending on where the person is and there position in life can change what they hunger for.
Over all I believe that the idea of hunger and what you hunger for comes from where you are in life.
I believe that everyone hungers for something in this world. Whether it is to be successful when they grow up or just do well in a class, everyone has goals that they want to achieve. One thing that I hunger for is to be better at soccer and live a prosperous life. By practicing soccer and focusing on my techniques I could achieve my goal and overcome my hunger. Being hungry for something is good because it not only makes you focus on what you need to do, but also helps you make smart decisions and put what is important in front of things that will not benefit you later in life.
basically everyone hungers for something other than food. Metaphorically, hunger means to desire or to want. For example, in the Bread Givers, Sara hungers to become a person. I have hungered for success in various things before, such as school or sports, probably like most people have.It is important for people to hunger for things metaphorically, because it gives them motivation to work towards success and acheiving their goals.
hunger can not only be used for the meaning of hungery for food but there can be hunger for love, you can be hungry on a huge scale such as a nibble becuase you are poopr and have no food or you can just simply be hungry for some food, becuase you havent eaten in a while there can be hungern for ianimate objects such as toys, but for me, im hungery for lots of things, one of the major things is a good summer job to make lots of money and also always hungry for the furture becuase im lways curios whats going to happen next in my life
Metaphorically i hunger for many things, but mostly overall excellence. I try to do my best in everything i need to do in life. This is one of my goals in life and i try to make it as much of a reality that i can. Being hungry for things like these seem to be much more driving than just a regular wanting of something. When u really hunger something, you will do almost anything to get it.
I dont hunger for anything right now, i am sure when a name game comes out or a piece of clothing comes out i will hunger for it. But i never really hunger for food. I can say i am starving but i never really am, there are actual people who are starving and my idea of starving would be their adiea of being full. People can hunger for all sorts of things though. Theyc an hunger to be the best at a sport. They can hunger to get a good job. They can hunger to get good grades... almost anything.
people can hunger for things other than food or material things. One thing that I think that most people hunger for is success. I bet everyone wants to be successful in their life. Another thing that i think that most people hunger for is power. When people come into power or an important position, they tend to abuse it and go power crazy. Personally, io hunger for success. I want to be a successful person when I grow up. I want to go to college and get a good major so i can get a job and be successful.
When someone says that they are hungry for something it means that they want someting. In my life I Hunger (want) many things, I want to succeed in school and in life. I have wanted several things all of my life. Since I was about 3years old and had my first ride on a fire truck, I have always wanted to joing the local fire department. I also hunger to be two different things after I graduate from High School, and survive college. I want to get accepted in to the United States Coast Guard Academy, and then go on to become a Helicopter pilot for a while. When I am done in the Coast Guard I hope to go to the Police Academy and become a Police Officer. I have wanted (hungered) to become a cop my whole entire life. Although I Hunger for many things I hope to accomplish them all. I hunger for success.
There used to be an Ad Campaign for Hot Pockets using the term 'hungry' on two levels. In order to present their product, they invented a recurring character who was an Asian 'dojo master.' In each ad there would be a person doing achieving any ordinary goal, for example practicing the flute. The dojo master asks why they are so intent upon their ordinary goals, wishes, or desires. A breif pause occurs after this line, as the person is shown both taken aback by the sudden appearance of the dojo master but also contemplates the question.
Everybody has a desire to do or be something they wish. These ads try to appear to that in their audience.
Then, in a humorous tagline, we would tell the person they are hungry for Hot Pockets.
I, like Sara, hunger for freedom. I do not aspire to run away from my home like she did in Bread Givers, but I greatly value freedom from my parents. Sara takes her hunger for freedom and personhood very far in the novel, but her parents are far more tyrannical as most are not. Sara and I hunger for similar things, however.
I like to view this as i hunger for sucess. Hunger is not only used for when you are hungry in such a way you need food, but for something you really want. Like a life goal. Reason I am hungry for sucess is because when you suceed you can acomplish anything. No matter what your suceeding in aslong as you are satisfide with what you have suceeded in. I feel like having hunger in different things brings more opportunity in life and allows you to have choices in things like what you want to do when you get older.
Well "metaphorically" speaking...I hunger for a lot of things. Im goign to guess food doesn't count so ill stick with material and impossible things. I really really hunger for a jet pack or something cool like that. I really would love to be immortal. It would give me time to do whatever I want. There is so much I would love to do in a lifetime, but thats just the problem. Its a lifetime, It has a limit. However, If i had all the time I needed I would be able to do everything I wanted to do and then some. It's something to think about. What would you do if you could do everything? Would you just waste away knowing you had the time to do anything? Or would you take every second and make the best of it? Personally, I think I would learn everything, and try everything, and try to make as much of an impact as I could. This is only but a fraction of some of the things I hunger for.
