Half of our freshman year is over. That is 1/8 of out whole entire high school career. My older sibling has told me many things about his high school experience. He was part of the graduating class of 2009. He is now a college freshman. At first, when I thought about high school, I thought of a huge scary building. Where nobody is nice to you or helps you out. But it is not as bad as I had expected. I was very afriad to find my classes. But now, one of the positives about high school is that it gets easier to navugate around after a while. I was also, nervous about the rotating schedule. Having a different period order everyday was a little stressful at first. now, I really like it. In my middle school, we had the same period order everyday. It got very boring after a while. In high school, it is a different order so it is not as boring as middle school. Another positive thing about high school, is that you meet new people and you make alot of new friends. this can also, be a negative quality. Having alot of kids in the school can make it a stressful environment for some students. You sometimes tend to focus on the students around instead of your work. High school has been an interesting experience so far and hopefully it will just get better.

It is hard to believe that already 1/8 of our high school career is over. It feels like it went by quickly and is different then I had imagined. I had imagined it as a big school where it is impossible to find your classes. Also, I pictured getting hours of homework each night and tests or quizzes around each corner. So far, it has been a positive experience and better then I had imagined. Most people tend to think how scary or hard high school is in the beginning and they soon find out that what they have been told are just steriotypes people often assume. There are many positive experiences about highschool that many people did not expect before. There also may be a few negative ones that students get used to and end up turning out well in the end. Hopefully the rest of our high school experiences will remain positive and succesfull for our future lives ahead.

The first things that comes to mind when you think of high school is being shoved in lockers, mean girls, jocks, cheerleaders, and freshman Friday. The reason why everyone thinks of this is because of how Hollywood portrays high school. Directors show it to be mean, and dreadful, when in reality, it's nothing like that. Of course, everyone knows that movies make high school look overdone, but I was still expecting mean upper classmen and getting lost for the first couple of MONTHS. Even on freshmen Friday I expected more, even if it was mistreating lockers or just shoving a freshmen once in a while. Some of my friends from other schools have talked about what it was like, but I guess for each person it is different. Overall, no one likes going to school, but I think high school is much better than middle school where there was one floor and you knew every teacher there. Now, you have more freedom, and the building is bigger so there are new experiences every corner you turn. It is a little stressful not knowing everyone because you don't know who is a freshmen or not, so you don't want to look like a fool in front of them and ask where room 123 is when, infact, the person you are asking has no clue! On the other hand, having new people lets you make new friends and experience new things. My favorite part of high school is that you don't have to sit in a specific place everyday, you can change spots every week, or every day, or every five minuetes if you want to! Although it is a little gross sitting on the floor of the hallways, the fun times you have there are ten times better than the times that I have had sitting at lunch tables. So far, high school is fun enough to bare. You may be stressed at times, but the freedom you get is worth it.

My high school experience is great so far. My older sister, who is now a senoir, told me that high school was so much better then middle school, and she was right. I do have more responibility, which isnt always fun, but with that responsibility I get more freedom which lacked in middle school. Although i am a little free bird, allowed to roam around the hallways during lunch, its fun but a lot of trouble happens. Food is grossly left on the ground, people form little cliques, and you can feel overwhelmed. With all the exitment overflowing the halls, its hard not to be a part of it.
Even though crazy stuff happens in high school, i like this experience so much better thaen middle school. I have more freedom and independence. For example the clothing rules aren't as strict anymore, you can basically eat any where at lunch, you have more electives to choose from and you get to decied what course you want to take, theres more sports to tryout for, and its just so much fun! There haven't been that many negatives things in high school exept the occasional rumor, or the smell of smoke i the stair well. And people can wonder into the wrong crowed and choose not good friends. But i think there are mor posotive things about high school then negative.

We, the freshman, have finished the first half of our freshman year in West Morris Mendham High School, and we are one eighth of the way done with our high school careers. There have been many positive experiences and many negative experiences at West Morris Mendham High School. When looking back on what has happened in high school, so far, it has not been what I expected. When I first thought of high school, I thought that all of the teachers would be strict and unfriendly. However, most have turned out to be what I expected and some have not. Another thing that I was expecting was "Freshmen Friday." However, as the freshmen year went by, all you would hear are upperclassmen saying "Freshmen Friday," but nothing even happened. Another thing that I expected was lots of homework and difficulty passing m classes. My expectation about the homework was correct, but having difficulty passing my classes did not happen. Actually, I have been getting better grades in my freshman year than I did in any year in previous school years. One of the last things that I expected from this year was that no one would get along, but I was completely wrong with that. Some people do not get along with each other, but as a whole, we mostly like one another.
There has been a fair share of positive experiences, but there has also been a fair share of negative experiences. Some positive things I have mentioned are above, like: easily passing my classes. Something that has not happened is a bomb threat. I am extremely glad that hasn't happened, because last year when it did, I was extremely afraid of going to the high school. Some negative things that have happened are: me becoming clumsier and upperclassmen being rude, when you get in their way.
I am hoping for the same things to happen during this semester, besides all of the negative experiences I had.

I honestly refuse to believe im already half way done with freshman year. it is just so crazy, and sometimes I feel that people don't even realize that they're in highschool. For me, it will sometimes hit me like, "wow. I'm in highschool". The next thought is usually " Yeesh, I better step it up." haha. I Think that highschool is really something that you don't really realize until it is gone. I know that is what is going to happen. Once I graduate I am probably going to spend that entire summer just realizing what I had just left behind. I sort of feel this way about my freshman year. That right now it does'nt seem like much. but afterwords it will be worth much more.

My first impression of high school wasn't very good. All I knew was there would be a lot more people than i was used to, older kids, more homework, and a lot of independence- that meant I wouldn't get the kind of help I was used to getting. I'll admit I was really nervous coming into freshman year, however my opinion wasn't a very good one. It turned out that high school was a great experience, and I'm having so much fun already. I've made a ton of new friends and learned a lot. There have been some situations where the decisions were hard, however I have learned to avoid bad situations and stick with the people that respect me and are good infuences. The work has been harder, and I've realized I need to put a good amount of effort into it if I want to succeed. So far, my first eighth of my high school career has been extremely positive, and I am looking forward to my next 3 and a half years here at Mendham.

It seems really strange to think half of the freshman year is already over. It feels like it just started. Before high school started, I expected it to be scary, hard, and miserable all around. I was terrified, and I didn't want to go. I wasn't even sure I would be able to open my locker. In the beginning of the year it was so overwhelming, but I like it now that I am used to it. Truthfully, parts of it still scare me, and I still feel lost at times, but it's nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be. It has been a positive expereince so far, though. Once you can find your way around, it becomes fun, and I really enkoyed meeting people I hadn't known in middle school. Some of the things I thought of as negative at first I am getting used to, and it is more fun now that I have learned from some of the mistakes I made during the first half of the year. In general, it had been a great experience so far and it will probably continue to get better.

Yes! 1/8 down so much more to go.See
2009 was a big change for me, my mom got a new and better job, so I had to move to jersey. I had been excepted to this nice art high school that I had to give up for my mom.I already knew High school was going to be hard but moving to a new place, new school, and new people I thought would it be awful! and it was for the first week the teachers tought differently, the people didnt want to talk to the new kid even in a new school. Now hereing that 1/8 is over is great. I have come so far from that fist week doing way better in school, having friends and getting ready for my future.

The year is only half over? It seems like we have been here long enough. So far, I have already gotten used to the building, schedule, and the classes themselves, and it is already hard to recall what middle school was like. I remember from the first half of the year a few major events from the school, like the assemblies. I also remember the anticipation for holiday break, and only a few weeks ago for the semester to be over. Now we're all waiting for spring break. something tells me at the end of the year we will be recalling this time of year, too.

I don't have any older siblings so i didn't really go into high school with certain expectations or a mind- set that something was going to be a certain way. I just go by what I hear from older friends. For example, I have always heard a lot about drugs in high school and how there are spo many more kids that do them. I always thought that was just stereotypical, that it wasn't true. But kids are getting arrested left and right for having or doing drugs. So that is a negative experience and it surprised me that so many kids still do them after we had so many assemblies informing us about how much drugs can screw your life up. However, there is a positive experience, everyone minds their own buisiness. I herard this from one of my friends, that there are cliques and groups, but they intertwine. Kids are friends with kids from different groups. Another positive experience is that there are three schools coming together, so I made new friends. I also like the range of classes and rotating schedule. I have so much more freedom in high school but i learned very quickly that I have to take care of myself and pave a path for my future, which helped me be more responsible. Teachers don't send out little test alerts or reminders too sign up for something, which I didn't like at first, but I know that wouldn't help me learn to be responsible. One more positive experience is the teachers. In middle school, I had maybe one teacher who would actually make a difference in my academic work each year, and in high school almost every teacher makes that difference for me. Overall, high school is not what I thought it would be, but it exceeded my expectations.

It's hard to believe that six months ago i along with almost four hundred classmates started our long journey through high school. With 1/8 of my high school career over, I am glad that my experiences so far have been enjoyable, interesting, and hopefully unforgettable. Whether it be Mr. Moccia's witty responses to questions, or the smell of the lunch line right when lunch begins, all of my experiences have been amazing. For once I was time in school wasn't passing by so fast, so I could enjoy high school for a longer time.
I was happy the first day of high school to realize that high school is much different than middle school. More freedom, and more time for lunch and in between classes is something that most people take for granted, but it only adds to the greatness of high school so far

In the beginning of freshman year the school seemed like a maze that we would never learn our way through. Now, as the school days went on the school looked smaller and smaller and smaller to the point were the school is so tiny and not nearly was big as it was before. However in the beginning I found out that not only would I have to navigate around the school but have a rotating schedule as well. Before it seemed so intimidating now we almost forget the way it used to be in middle school. With a different arangement of periods it helps us as a student knowing that certain days you wouldnt havea certain class so you have 2 days to do homework or do a project rather then one. Also another benefit is that all the friends I have met from out of school activities I get to reunite in school with. Over all high school is awesome and i am more excited for the remaining 7/8 of school left.

I can not believe half of my freshman year is over. So far this year has been going great! The teachers are not as bad as I thought and the homework isn't as much as I expected. The thing I like most about high school is the sports. Not only do you get to learn more about your sport, you meet new people as well. I also like how we have time before school starts to do any left over homework and to relax before the school bell goes off. One thing i do not like is how school starts so early- but I am sure I'm not the only one who thinks this. So far, everything has been going fine and its all been a great experience.

I enjoyed the first half of my freshman year of high school. It was really fun, and I made a lot of new friends. I love the amount freedom they give us at high school. We can eat where ever we want, choose our classes, and the teachers aren't breathing down our necks! I also like how the teachers treat us like young adults instead of small children. That makes me feel really important. The classes are more interesting and not always "by the book". The size and population of our school is awesome too. If we have a problem with a person, then we can easily avoid him/her. The after school activities are great at high school too. There are so many fun clubs and sport teams to participate in. Although, the communication is not great at high school. The anouncements are hard to hear, and sometimes I feel like I'm breaking my neak to find or do something. Other than that, I think high school is pretty sweet, and not as bad as the media says it is.

When I first realized that we were half way through the freshman year I was not shocked. Then I recalled how long it felt since the begining of the year and I was. The fact that we are 1/8 through our high school career is very suprising though. that means that in only a couple of years, we have to start thinking about what we want to do with the rest of our lives. In this half school year, I have learned a great deal about our school and the high school experience. I believe that it will only get easier to be a high school student.

I think high school is what I expected, it isnt really anything different from middle school. It is hard to believe that we are almost done with freshman year though. My experiences have been posotive, with little negative experiences. I learned a lot from all of my teachers, and some of the lessons have actually been fun. I didnt have anyone to tell me how high school would be so I had to figure it out on my own, which was sort of fun.

Over all high school is ok i guess. There is nothing really good or bad about it. I dont really like where my locker is and wish i didnt have gym in the morning. I felt like an absolute idiot trying to find my clases on the first day or two but from then on it got better. I made alot oof new friends and left all the bad middle school ones behind. i think that the change into the highschool was pretty crazy going from a grade of about 75 to around 400. As far as sports go theres really no change, both HS and middle school teams were kinda bad. I miss the middle school lunches though, not gonna lie even though i hated that school thier ffood was really good. I am a little frusterated with myself because even though my GPA is no where near bad i want it to be higher in order to get into a good college in hopes of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. I find that the teachers here are alot cooler than in midle school and the classes arent too bad. I think i will try to look at it as if i have 7/8ths or my HS life left to make my GPA really really really high.

I can not belive that in a short couple of months that it will be summer again. I can remember the what my first day of High school was like. I remember walking through the hallways and saying to myself "am I the shortest one here." I was really nervous that I might not be able to find my classes or that I might not make a first good impression on mny teachers. Now that we are halfway through the school year I'm thinking why did I think that. It was because it was a new school with new people. My expectations for West Morris Mendham High School was pretty high becaus my entire family went through that school. My dad and my mom and both my sisters have gone through this school. Even all three of my Uncles and all Three of my aunts went through Mendham high school. Everything that my sisters and my parents told me before the school year began has been completely right.

I feel like last year was much easier than this year. But this year we get things like study hall which help us do our studying and homework. This year the teachers are less likely to allow you to make up assighnments then last year. But i feel like this year the we can do more things like eat out side and we have more choices to get food from. But the test this year are very hard and you need to study more in advance. And depending on the class you have a lot more homework. High school was a real wake up call.

About half of our freashman year is over, and it hardly feels like that. Time is flying by and now is the time to catch our breaths. Freshman year is definatley one that i am going to remember however, it is not what i expected at all. The atmosphere is much better than i though it would be and there are so many people that its inevidible to make new friends. The work load is hard, but managable. And for that im thankful. Playing two sports, i definitley think most people should try. It is still managable to do your homework and sports come second from school so whatever you need is right there. So, looking back at the last 1/2 of freshman year, i would have to say im loving it.

1/8 of our freshman year is gone and i have realized that it really wasnt as bad as i had suspected it to be, i thought becoming a freshman in highschool was going to be rough, in the way people treat and the amount of work your going to get, one of my greatest fears was being late for classes and figuring out where your classs are going to be, it was scary becuase of the drop schedule i didnt think i understand it but after a while of using it i memorized my schedule on the first day, becuase i was late for every class, and didnt think i would make it through the year, but i eventually pulled through.
